Used Van Prices Remain Elevated Despite New Supply Recovery

Short Description

The used commercial vehicle market continues to defy predictions of price correction as strong demand and changing buyer behaviour keep values high.

Details

Despite an improvement in new van supply following the resolution of semiconductor shortages, used van prices remain significantly above pre-pandemic levels according to the latest data from Cap HPI. Average used panel van values are running approximately 28% higher than 2019 benchmarks. Analysts attribute the sustained pricing to strong demand from small businesses and sole traders who cannot access new vehicle funding. Auctioneers report competitive bidding at commercial vehicle sales nationwide. The consensus among market experts is that meaningful price corrections are unlikely before late 2026 at the earliest.
