The Ford Transit Custom PHEV has now covered over 12,000 miles in our long-term fleet test, and the results paint a nuanced picture. In predominantly urban use, we’ve achieved up to 45 miles of pure electric range, reducing fuel costs dramatically for drivers who charge overnight. Payload capacity remains competitive at 1,136kg, and the driving experience is noticeably refined compared to the diesel equivalent. However, towing capability is reduced with the PHEV drivetrain, and the additional weight of the battery pack is noticeable when fully loaded. Ford’s dealer network has improved EV servicing capability significantly over the past year.
